Ringkasan Produk

The objective of this study is to explore the use

of bamboo as the filler in a hybrid composite by

a better understanding on how the natural fiber

can contributes to the strenght of products.

The analysis and development carried out is

through the experiment on the laminated woven

bamboo mixed with glass fiber and polyester

for panel product. The study will give the benefit

to the knowledge of the natural materials in

construction application product using hand

lay-up laminate method, the characteristics of

optimum lay-up process to the hybrid materials

used by the various configuration of sequence

and thickness, the behaviour of polymer and

natural fiber towards the specific parameters of

laminate process as well as economic potential

of bamboo (with value added) that available in

Malaysia.

The width of the Cellulose Microfibril/Nanofibril

(CMNF) has been estimated. The true lateral

width of native cellulose microfibrils is smaller

than the presently accepted value and is not yet

justified by direct experimental evidence.

In recent years, the sustainable environment

is being debated as an important measure

to assuage the global warming and so many

other type of pollution due to degradation of

global environment. A preventive measure

must be implemented as soon as possible to

enable the environment is being protected. The

main objectives of this study are to identify the

factors and elements affecting the living quality

in Malaysian urban neighbourhood, to evaluate

the sustainable living quality factors, to assess

the sustainable living elements, to propose

the decision making model for evaluate the

sustainable neighbourhood practice and finally,

to integrate the decision making model into

the Malaysian urban neighbourhood planning

processes. The review of structure plans, the

questionnaire survey and qualitative interviews

were employed to fulfil the objective and to

gather information on opinions of occupants

and stakeholders in urban residential area. The

study had found 21 sustainable neighbourhood

elements which were segregated into 3 factors

that are economical, social and environmental

factors. The Sustainable Neighbourhood

Elements (SNEs) model system was proposed

to be applied to the current planning and

design system. The SNEs model software can

enhance the current implementation to be

more transparent as it can indicate the real time

examples especially on green space elements

in the neighbourhood. It provides a cumulative

qualitative importance of the sustainability

status and as the guidance of the planning and

design of neighbourhood area. The software

therefore indicates how close a neighbourhood

is to achieve the sustainability status. Finally, it

is assumed that the closer the neighbourhood is

to those elements, the more sustainable it is.
