Ringkasan Produk

The objective of this study is to determine the

readiness of Infantry Personnel in Disaster

Response in Kuching. The readiness factors

that were identified and examined were

command and control, coordination, logistics,

disaster risk assessment, human resources and

communication. Data were collected through

interviews with 26 infantry personnel from

the strategic to tactical level. A focus group

discussion was also conducted with 18 infantry

personnel from both the operational and tactical

levels. The study found that the strategic level

officers are somewhat well prepared for disaster

response in which the command center, control

and coordination are well planned. Disaster

risk assessment were also conducted by the

area responsibility battalion. Human resources

were well prepared and deployed to disaster

predicted areas supported with relevant

logistics and communication equipment. Indeed

this study found that the Malaysian infantry lack

the assets and equipment to support disaster

response and recovery. And in the event of a

major disaster, the infantry may not be able

to support disaster response and recovery

effectively.
