Ekspo Ciptaan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi Antarabangsa (PECIPTA) 2015
Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) telah menyertai Ekspo Ciptaan Institusi Pengajian Tinggi
Antarabangsa (PECIPTA) 2015 yang telah diadakan selama 3 hari mulai 4 hingga 6 Disember 2015
bertempat di Hall 4&5, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). UPNM telah menghantar sebanyak
18 produk penyelidikan dari 16 orang pensyarah UPNM. Kejayaan yang paling membanggakan adalah
produk yang diwakili oleh UPNM memenangi pingat iaitu 2 emas, 1 perak dan 7 gangsa.

In the journey of achieving developed nation
status in 2020, various efforts have been made
by the Malaysia’s Government. One of them
is embarking on an innovation management
program in Malaysia’s service sector. This study
presents ‘An innovation management model
based on Islamic Quality Management System
MS 1900 within Malaysia’s Higher Education
Institutions’. The Islamic Quality Management
System MS 1900 is developed using ISO 9001
as its base, and is integrated with Shari’ah
requirements. MS 1900 is a structured system
to assist organisations in delivering products
and services that meet customers’ requirements
and the dictates of Shari’ah. This qualitative
study involves UNITEN, Putrajaya Campus
and Grik Community College, Perak as case
studies. Top management, Assistant Registrars,
Quality Managers, Auditors and lecturers
that actively involved in the implementation of
MS 1900 had been interview to garner their
experiences in implementing MS 1900 as the
program of innovation management. Data were
analysed using thematic building method, which
is assisted by NVIVO Version 10 software.
The model which was developed from the
research findings revealed that five activities
were carried out in MHEIs in MS 1900
implementation, i.e. Islamic quality system
development, management responsibility,
resource management, service realisation, and
continuous improvement. All of these activities
were carried out in compliance with Shari’ah
requirements. The implementation of MS 1900
has carried out innovation in management;
among them is the provision of Halal food,
the provision of Islamic finance services, the
provision of a convenient Solah area, ethical
work and social conduct, time savings and cost
effectiveness. This study developed a model
which shows that Islamic Quality Management
System MS 1900 not only functions as
monitoring tool, but it is capable system which
was employed in cultivating innovation in the
management of MHEIs. The model employed
